Before you refinish, understand the surface.
A cloudy floor is not always a worn-out floor. Some maintenance products can build up over time and hide the finish underneath. Other floors have finish damage that cleaning will not solve. We look at the condition and product history to help distinguish the two.
A test area or on-site assessment may be needed. Removal can reveal existing scratches, wear or discoloration beneath the buildup.

A clear process, from start to finish.
Identify the history
Tell us what products have been used and how often. Photos of product labels are especially useful.
Assess compatibility
We inspect the finish and may test a small area before determining the appropriate removal process.
Remove & review
We work on the agreed area, review the exposed finish and explain how to avoid recreating the buildup.
A little preparation goes a long way.
Send close-up photos, a wider room photo, approximate square footage and the names of floor products used. Avoid adding more polish before the assessment; it can make the condition harder to evaluate.
We serve San Diego and nearby communities. Include your ZIP code so we can confirm service availability and discuss access.
Ask about your hardwood wax & residue removal quote ↗Before you book
How do I know whether I have buildup or finish wear?
Haze, streaks, stickiness and product history can suggest buildup, but appearance alone is not conclusive. We assess the surface and may test an area before recommending removal.
Will wax removal make the floor look new?
No service can promise that. Removing buildup can improve appearance, but the finish underneath may have scratches, worn spots or discoloration that remain.
Is this sanding or refinishing?
This service addresses suitable surface buildup. It is separate from sanding, staining or replacing the protective finish. We discuss when buildup removal is appropriate and when finish damage limits the result.
How much does hardwood wax removal cost?
The area, amount and type of buildup, floor condition and removal work affect the quote. Send photos, square footage, ZIP code and product history for an initial assessment.
Need another surface cleaned?
Routine hardwood cleaning and hardwood wax removal address different problems. Ask us which service fits your floor.
